Autumn & Winter 2009

In 2005 the brothers formed a unique collaboration which is still active today with the people of Bolivia to create hand-knitted Alpaca garments.
With sustainability and social responsibility as key values The Inoue Brothers are still working together with a network of traditional Bolivian knitters – artisan mothers working from home, unable to leave for a city job due to family commitments. Having established a working relationship with Comme des Garçons the line is available in their concept-store in the centre of London, Dover Street Market.
Through this collaboration an ever developing relationship with the Arco Iris foundation has formed. This government supported non-profit organisation in La Paz, Bolivia works with street teenagers to help them improve their lives. Their goal is to give teenagers support, hope and education so they can become independent, well-adjusted and self-sufficient citizens. The Inoue Brothers contribute to the Arco Iris Foundation by outsourcing the work of sewing labels and tags to the foundation workshop, and by ensuring a fair price for the labour.
These hand-knitted garments are the products of ordinary human decency and respect. They are of the finest craftsmanship and produced with pride and extraordinary skill by professional mothers.
