Harris Elliott, Le Tings’ creative director, explains the meaning behind the UNITE graphic.
”Throughout modern-day history, there have been significant people who have championed the unification of African nations, a continent that was divided up by past European colonial masters. These people include Marcus Garvey, Kwame Nkrumah, Bob Marley, and recently Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso.
This design was inspired by Japanese electronic road signs that signal to pedestrians and traffic which direction to go. I love LED displays and has used this dot style with previous Inoue Brothers collaborations.
Red, black, and green are continuous Le Tings house colours that symbolise African Unity (UNITE). Flags often become barriers in today’s world; this man is waving his flags to say that people need to come together."
