Upcycling Project together with ON AIR

As part of our Upcycling projects, we have teamed up with ON AIR to transform our Natural Pima Cotton garments and refashion them into statement pieces expressing our shared desire for global peace.

ON AIR was created by NONCHELEEE and KYNE in 2017 as an internet radio station and later developed their apparel merchandise, which became hugely popular through NONCHELEEE’s bold graphics and KYNE’s delicate illustrations and quickly attracted a cult following.

ON AIR’s slogan of peace expressed through woven patches and bold graphics is the main theme for this collaboration.

Since Satoru and his family relocated to Okinawa from Copenhagen a few years ago, we have immersed ourselves in the creative community on the island and have been working with Ryukyu Indigo Labo for our Ryukyu Blues Project. Ryukyu Indigo Labo is the only remaining Okinawan dyeing facility, which follows the process from the growing of the indigo plant to dyeing the final garment. Our collaboration with Ryukyu Indigo Labo, using our Natural Pima Cotton from Peru, expresses the unique depth and precision of traditionally dyed indigo garments and the beauty of the Ryukyu culture.

Over a decade ago, we started exploring our Japanese heritage, starting with our mother’s origins in Kyushu, the southern region of Japan. With the aim of discovering new ways of creating designs for traditional Japanese crafts in the region, we met Yusuke Kido of ONE KILN. He is evolving the ceramic tradition in Kyushu to exciting contemporary heights, mixing traditional techniques with modern minimalist shapes and conceptual ideas.
