Natural Pima cotton scarf

Natural Pima cotton scarf

When we first encountered the silk like touch of natural pima cotton it immediately made us want to make scarfs. Our fascination of beautifully screen printed scarfs was always in the back of our minds, however, we wanted a more contemporary look to compliment unique hand feel of the pima cotton fabric. The quality of the screen printing had to be equally beautiful and when we were introduced to one of the best textile printers in Japan we could finally start our Natural Pima Cotton Scarf Project.

The Pima cotton material chosen for our scarf collection is a woven sateen fabric, which gives the hand feel and texture a silky and shiny appearance. The edges are rolled and hand stitched to retain to unique softness all aroun. Cotton's natural ability to absorb and keep the skin dry, makes our cotton scarf perfect for the hot summer months.

Takeru Iwazaki

"I came across Takeru’s art by coincidence on a trip to Shizuoka when visiting a shop that had a collection of his works exhibited. It really caught my eye as the detail and intricacy of his lines were so fine and alive. I was instantly intrigued and ended up buying the piece that we have used for our newly launched cotton scarf collection." – Satoru Inoue

Shizuoka based Takeru is heavily influenced by natural phenomena such as the flow of water and the appearance of trees, "flow" has become one of his core themes. He creates an immersive experience for the viewer, concentrating the energy emitted by nature into graceful lines. His drawings are characterised by densely detailed and ever expansive lines, resonating throughout as movements and flow. The original work used for this scarf was drawn with a ballpoint pen on paper.
