New arrivals from Tohoku Project

"Made in Tohoku"

This project is formed through partnerships with small businesses and crafts people in the region of Tohoku, which in March 2011 experienced the devastating tsunami created by the country’s most powerful earthquake to date. For this project we have collaborated with friends who share our ideals.

We have developed a unique blend of organic hemp and cotton specifically aimed to create comfort throughout the hot summer months.

All organic hemp and cotton used for this project is grown free of chemical fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides and defoliants.

NEW ARRIVALS

JULIEN COLOMBIER INTERACTION MULTIPLE / ORDERED CHAOS

Body: 70% cotton / 30% hemp Country and region: Fukushima, Japan

Based in Paris, France, Colombier was born in 1972. He is known for his unique world of painting, using pastels, chalk and acrylics on black backgrounds. His densely compressed paintings, created by the repetitive fabrication of geometric motifs and plants, have a figurative yet graphically abstract quality.

For this series Julien has chosen two of his favourite art pieces which were part of his most recent 2023 "Hopepunk" show in Japan. They feature textured grid and gravitating patterns in his colourful signature style.

LE TINGS GET YA / SPA

Body: 70% cotton / 30% hemp Country and region: Fukushima, Japan

Harris Elliott is the creative mastermind behind Le Tings. He is a visual storyteller originating from London with a long history of working in Japan. With heritage to both the Caribbean and African culture he embodies the Black British spirit.

Le Tings is an ongoing commentary and visual celebration of Africa and its diaspora cultures through the lens of street markets and their raw sensibilities. Repurposing narratives that relate to sustainability of culture is one of the key brand values.

Nail salons create spaces for cultural exchange for the Black community, allowing the women to take ownership of their visual identity. These graphics and colours are inspired by 80’s style, nail salon neon signs, the wording is playful phrases and slang of how these women describe their beauty processes.
